Brent Honcharuk

Canadian Scout

ABOUT

Brent Honcharuk grew up just east of Toronto in Pickering, Ontario, where he played his minor hockey with the Pickering Panthers before continuing his playing career through college and recreational leagues. His transition into coaching began with the Richmond Hill Coyotes U16 AAA program (OMHA), starting as a trainer before advancing to assistant coach. He later served in the same role with the organization’s U13 team, further honing his coaching expertise.

In addition to his work in minor hockey, Brent was also the Director of Development for the Oshawa Lady Generals (OWHA), where he played a key role in advancing the skills and competitiveness of female athletes.

Today, Brent remains active behind the bench and is deeply involved in coach education as a certified Development 1 instructor and field evaluator. He holds multiple certifications in hockey and athletic development and collaborates with several of Ontario’s top hockey organizations. During the off-season, he works closely with the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), delivering on-ice instruction and participating in Program of Excellence workshops and player development sessions.

Brent has coached and mentored athletes from AAA, OJHL, OHL, AHL, and other elite levels across a wide range of age groups. His vast network across Canadian hockey allows him to effectively evaluate talent and character, ensuring that athletes meet the Wolves’ high standards both on and off the ice.

As the Wolves' Canadian Scout, Brent will continue identifying top-tier talent throughout Canada and work closely with the Wolves staff to build a competitive, character-driven roster each season.
