ABOUT
Zach Cappelli got his start with Pro Ambitions Hockey, serving as a head coach from 2015–2017. During his time with Pro Ambitions, Cappelli developed and supervised more than 50 high-level hockey camps.
Most recently, the Johnston, R.I. native served as the Varsity Hockey Head Coach at Portsmouth Abbey School, where he led the program to its first-ever New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) Holt Conference Championship. For the first time in school history, the program also earned two NEPSAC Honorable Mentions. In addition to his coaching duties, Cappelli served as Vice President of the NEPSAC Boys Hockey Association.
Prior to joining Portsmouth Abbey for the 2022–23 season, Cappelli was the men’s assistant coach at Nichols College. During his time there, he helped guide the program to the 2022 Worcester Mayor’s Cup Championship and the 2023 Boston Landing Invitational Championship.
Since 2019, Cappelli has owned and operated Level Up Hockey Development. Through Level Up, he works with players ranging from 12 years old through the collegiate level, focusing on skill development by teaching game techniques and situational play through on-ice sessions and private lessons. He also serves as an advisor to athletes navigating the prep school and college recruiting process and has helped place more than 100 players in prep, junior, and collegiate hockey.
In 2016, Cappelli took over as head coach of the Hoosac Prep School boys’ hockey team while also serving as the school’s Assistant Athletic Director. During his tenure, he led the program to its second straight NEPSAC Holt Conference Championship and helped five graduates advance to the collegiate ranks.
A 2017 graduate of Becker College, Cappelli also serves as the Head Recruiter for the Little Rhody Hockey Club summer program and is the Co-Director and Head of Skills for Peak Performance Prep & Junior.
