The West Chester Wolves are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Bernie Parent, one of the most iconic figures in the history of hockey and the city of Philadelphia.
Parent’s legendary career with the Philadelphia Flyers included back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1974 and 1975, where his remarkable play earned him the Conn Smythe Trophy in both years. He also won consecutive Vezina Trophies during that time and, in 1984, became the first Flyer inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. His No. 1 jersey was later retired, and he was part of the inaugural class of the Flyers Hall of Fame.
Off the ice, Parent dedicated himself to growing the game through Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education. He inspired young players and families across the region, including within the West Chester Wolves and Quakers Youth Hockey communities. His kindness and passion for the sport touched all who had the privilege to meet him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Gini, and the entire Parent family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education in Bernie’s memory.
