The West Chester Wolves’ NCDC team completed an impressive back-to-back series sweep against the Connecticut Junior Rangers with a gritty shootout win on October 25 and a decisive 5-2 victory on October 26.
October 25: Wolves Edge Out Junior Rangers in Shootout Thriller
The Wolves opened the series at Chelsea Piers North with a tightly contested game that saw both teams trading goals in regulation, eventually leading to a shootout where West Chester came out on top, 4-3.
Lorenzo Rossi held strong in net, with Griffin Davis stepping up to finish the game with 45 saves. The Wolves’ offense found rhythm in the second period, with Logan Lambrecht netting two goals, including a critical power-play goal, to give the Wolves a 3-1 lead. However, the Junior Rangers clawed back with two third-period goals to tie it up, sending the game to overtime and ultimately to a shootout.
Emil Szepesi and Alec Alfieri scored clutch goals in the shootout to seal the victory for West Chester. Despite facing a disciplined Junior Rangers' penalty kill, the Wolves converted on one of their three power plays, while their penalty kill unit held Connecticut scoreless on six attempts, proving vital to their win.
October 26: Wolves Dominate in 5-2 Home Victory
Returning to the PNY Sports Arena on October 26, the Wolves were ready to build on their momentum, delivering a commanding 5-2 win in front of the home crowd.
Connor Stokes and Logan Lambrecht set the tone early, each scoring in the first period to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead. Roman Cicco kept the pressure on, finding the net just five seconds into the second period, and Owen Norman added a goal in the final seconds of the period to extend the lead to 4-2. Lambrecht then capped off the night with a power-play goal in the third, marking his third goal of the weekend and securing a comfortable victory for West Chester.
Griffin Davis was solid in goal once again, making 30 saves on the night. West Chester took full advantage of their power-play opportunity, converting one of one, while the Wolves’ penalty kill continued to stifle Connecticut, allowing only one goal in six attempts over the series.
