WEST CHESTER, PA – In a closely contested game at PNY Sports Arena on December 8, the Mercer Chiefs secured a 4-2 victory over the West Chester Wolves in a Premier Division showdown. Despite spirited efforts from the Wolves, a strong third period from the Chiefs proved decisive.

The Wolves struck first with Logan Gee capitalizing early in the opening frame at 8:05. Assisted by Dante Santangelo and Aaron Shanks, Gee’s goal electrified the home crowd. However, the Chiefs responded later in the period, as Thomas LeClair converted with assists from Lucas Collins and Jakub Hanzak, leveling the score at 1-1.

In the second period, Max McKay put the Wolves back in the lead with a sharp finish at 7:25, assisted by Yianni Tsatsoulis and Titus Keyes. West Chester’s defense held strong for much of the period, but Mercer’s persistence kept them within striking distance.

The Chiefs took control in the final period. Peter Kovac scored twice, first at 14:31 with helpers from Tristan Frizado and Nolan Lyford, and again at 17:05, assisted by Cooper Anderson and Frizado. Francis Rose sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:49, with assists from Nathaniel Mongeau and Collins.

Elijah Wiltshire was stellar in net for the Wolves, turning aside 33 shots, including a flurry of chances in the second period. Mercer’s Daxton Lucidi also delivered a strong performance, stopping 29 of 31 shots to secure the win.

The Wolves battled hard but were unable to convert on any of their three power play opportunities. Both teams incurred eight penalty minutes, keeping the pace physical and evenly matched throughout the contest.
