West Chester Wolves U16 finish out THF Showcase vs Mercer Chiefs 16U Premier

The West Chester Wolves U16 team wrapped up their showcase at the THF event on Sunday, falling to the Mercer Chiefs 16U Premier 5-3 in a fiercely contested matchup at Pittsburgh Ice Arena. Despite a strong effort, the Wolves were unable to claw back after a commanding second period by the Chiefs.
The Wolves opened the scoring at 11:39 of the first period when forward Alexander Khamichonak found the back of the net, assisted by Lucas Hill, giving West Chester a 1-0 lead. The Mercer Chiefs, however, responded in the second period with a relentless offensive surge, scoring three unanswered goals. Filip Kacmarsky tied it up with a power-play goal at 13:12, followed by a quick pair of goals from Clayton Conrad and Josh Timone, putting Mercer ahead 3-1.
West Chester showed their resilience in the third period when Khamichonak netted his second goal of the game at 7:12, cutting the deficit to 4-2. However, Mercer’s Filip Kacmarsky sealed the win with his second of the game at 2:40, bringing the final score to 5-3.
Goaltender Robert Cavalcante faced a barrage of shots, making 40 saves on 45 attempts for the Wolves, while Mercer's Keith Williams stopped 27 of 30 to secure the victory.
