WAYNE, NJ — The West Chester Wolves traveled to the Ice Vault Rink on December 20, 2024, to face off against the Jersey Hitmen in a hard-fought NCDC game. Despite a promising start, the Wolves were ultimately outpaced by the Hitmen, falling 7-2.
The Wolves struck first at 9:06 of the opening period. Forward Joshua Swan opened the scoring, assisted by Emil Szepesi and Charles Becnel, giving West Chester an early lead. Strong defensive plays and key saves by Wolves’ goaltender Griffin Davis kept the Hitmen off the scoreboard through the first 20 minutes.
The second period, however, saw the tide turn in favor of the Hitmen. Jersey leveled the score at 5:07 when Derek Tremblay, assisted by Tyler Fogu, capitalized on an opportunity. A series of quick goals followed, with the Hitmen netting four in the period. The Wolves managed to respond with a power-play goal at 8:39, as Sean Tyrie found the back of the net with assists from Swan and Becnel.
Heading into the third period, the Wolves trailed 4-2 but struggled to regain momentum. The Hitmen continued to pressure offensively, adding three more goals, including two on the power play. The Wolves' penalty troubles proved costly, with eight minutes spent shorthanded throughout the game.
Griffin Davis made 40 saves in net for the Wolves but faced relentless attacks from the Hitmen, led by standout performances from Filip Tomiczek and Tyler Fogu. Jersey’s goaltender, Nick Bunch, stood strong with 38 saves to secure the win.
