The West Chester Wolves U18 Academy team opened their THF Showcase campaign with a 2-0 victory over Biggby Coffee AAA. The Wolves delivered a solid performance, controlling much of the game and getting key contributions from Ivan Golovko and Luke Tomasic, who both found the back of the net in the second period.
After a scoreless first period that saw West Chester outshoot Biggby Coffee 12-7, the Wolves broke through in the second. At 13:38, Golovko netted the game-winning goal, assisted by Halauko and Kerr. Less than a minute later, Tomasic added an insurance goal off a rebound from Markus Lunski to give the Wolves a 2-0 lead.
Despite several penalties throughout the contest, including a roughing call on Sawyer Howe and a too-many-players infraction, the Wolves' defense and goaltending were stellar. Jacob Aranda stood tall in net, making 22 saves to earn the shutout victory.
The Wolves dominated the shot count, outshooting Biggby Coffee 29-22, while Biggby Coffee’s goalie, Luke Connolly, did his best to keep his team in the game with 27 saves.
