The West Chester Wolves delivered a dramatic come-from-behind win against the Rockets Hockey Club on Saturday afternoon at The Revolution Ice Gardens, powered by a strong third period that secured a 5-4 triumph.
The Wolves took the early lead at 9:22 when Brayden Sprickman found the back of the net, with assists from Emil Szepesi and Joshua Swan. Both teams traded physical play, with West Chester’s Cole Kerr sitting for a roughing minor, but the penalty kill unit held strong.
The Rockets stormed back in the second frame, with Trey Dionne, Braydon Lindsay, and Tanner McFaul all scoring within a 12-minute span to build a 3-1 lead. The Wolves responded quickly, taking advantage of a power play at 1:08 as Szepesi converted with helpers from Bryan Weissler and Sprickman to keep the game within reach.
Down 3-2 entering the final period, the Wolves’ power play unit took control. Reed Richeson’s goal at 12:27 tied the game, and just two minutes later, Szepesi struck again to give the Wolves their first lead since the opening frame. Connor Tyrie sealed the victory with a crucial insurance goal at 18:45, assisted by Cole Jackson and Charles Becnel. The Rockets managed a late tally from Jared Rothman, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
Goaltender Griffin Davis stood tall in net, anchoring the Wolves through tense moments and earning the win. The Wolves also capitalized on the Rockets’ lack of discipline, scoring three of their five goals on the power play.
