The West Chester Wolves NCDC squad came out firing and never looked back, taking down the Connecticut Junior Rangers 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Chelsea Piers North.
The Wolves struck first late in the opening frame when Maddox Goudie buried a power play goal at 12:56, assisted by Reece Allman and Alec Alfieri.
Connecticut tied the game early in the second with a power play marker at 19:39, but West Chester quickly answered. At 11:03, Grant Lucas put the Wolves back on top off a feed from Eric McHale and Allman. Less than a minute later, Goudie netted his second of the day, finishing plays from Alfieri and Jacksen Suttie to make it 3-1.
The Rangers responded with another power play goal at 17:25 to cut the deficit to one, but the Wolves sealed things in the third period. At 12:38, Philip Gamper scored off assists from Suttie and Tomas Pribyl, and just over a minute later, Mick Keogan added insurance at 11:32 with helpers from Allman and Chase Kerr.
Goaltender Sebastian Pribula was a rock in net, stopping 37 of 39 shots to secure the win. The Wolves’ special teams also played a key role, striking twice on the power play and holding their ground through multiple penalty kills in a physical contest.
